Into the Mountains

Day two started with a beautiful sunrise over the river. Packed up camp and headed towards the mountain pass that I had been looking forward to for months. The road started climbing almost immediately. Switchback after switchback, each turn revealing more breathtaking views than the last. Stopped countless times just to take it all in. Reached the summit around noon. At 2,500 meters, the air was thin and cool. Had lunch at a small mountain hut - best schnitzel I have ever had. The descent on the other side was equally spectacular. Ended the day in a small alpine village, treating myself to a proper hotel room and a hot shower.
